The Director of the Louisiana State University Shreveport Veterans Resource Center (VRC) serves as the primary advocate for student veterans. Serving as the primary school certifying official (SCO), the person in this position is responsible for processing veteran educational benefits for the veteran student population. Additionally, the Director also provides strategic leadership for programs, services, operations, and spaces that enhance the LSUS experience for student military veterans and their dependents. This is a full-time unclassified position.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior military service
- Professional experience working in a campus environment
- Demonstrated program design and/or curriculum design
- Demonstrated group facilitation and/or presentation experience

Job Duties And Other Information
Position Duties & Responsibilities:
- Evaluate existing programs, services and events to ensure that LSUS and the VRC are best positioned to offer a high-quality student experience that is accessible and intentionally designed to foster a sense of belonging among student veterans.
- Administer the university’s Veterans Affairs program, including serving as the primary VA school certifying official for approximately 700 Veteran students.
- Work closely with Bursar’s Office in the processing of tuition assistance for actively serving Veteran students
- Mobilize resources from the U.S. and Louisiana Departments of Veterans Affairs while internally serving on committees and forming key partnerships
- Plan and coordinate campus events and activities to support student veterans and their dependents
- Assist with commencement operations
- Stay informed about university policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical and Environmental Demands
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are more than those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls.
