District Recruitment For Rapides Parish:
The overall function of this position is to serve as grounds guard at DOTD District Headquarters. This position is located in District 08, unit 002 of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Transportation Operations Manager. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.
While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Minimum Qualifications
No experience or training is required.
Necessary Special Requirements:
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Applicants may be required to possess a current Louisiana driver's license.

- Serves as grounds guard at DOTD Headquarters complex and/or other district/section facilities by routinely making rounds during assigned shift.
- Inspects grounds or job site for the purpose of safe-guarding equipment and/or materials against damage or loss due to theft, weather, or vandalism.
- Responds to various emergencies impacting area by promptly reporting incident to proper authorities for their further direction/action; receives/routes calls to proper authorities.
- Performs miscellaneous custodial duties for the purpose of maintaining cleaning work/grounds area.
- Dispenses fuel during after hour periods and properly records such transactions.
- May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.
- May be subpoenaed as requested by DOTD legal Counsel.
