About This Job
The Board of Regents (BoR) is established in the Louisiana Constitution as the state’s coordinating board for higher education, working with four management boards, 32 public degree-granting institutions, and four special-purpose institutions. The BoR sets statewide policy related to higher education; advocates for higher education systems and institutions; distributes state-provided funding in accordance with legislative actions; and administers granting programs related to the advancement of the missions of postsecondary education systems and institutions. The BoR contains three programs which include the Board of Regents, the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA), and the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON).
Position Overview
This position works with schools and the public on making sure that Proprietary School law and code are followed, and all licensed schools maintain in compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an educational or governmental setting.
- Experience with program management or administration.
Ideal Candidate/Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree, preferably in Education, Communications, or a similar subject area.
- Experience in a postsecondary education or compliance setting.
- Knowledge of process documentation, process automation tools, or software.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Essential and other important duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serving as primary reviewer for 50-75 licensed proprietary schools by completing the following tasks at a minimum:
- Reviewing and determining the status of Proprietary School applications based on statutory requirements and the LA Administrative Code. Reviewing and managing applications for initial licensure and change of ownership.
- Reviewing and managing annual license renewal applications for recommendation to the Commission. Preparing all documents during the review and following the actions of the Commission and the Board.
- Reviewing and approving applications for new and amended programs of study based on the requirements in the law and rules and regulations and preparing all correspondence relative to this activity.
- Reviewing and approving applications for staff/instructor approval based on the requirements in the law and rules and regulations and preparing all correspondence relative to this activity.
- Reviewing and processing applications for solicitor permits.
- Monitoring bonding requirements to ensure licensure compliance.
- Reviewing and processing any additional applications submitted via the online application management system.
- Maintaining files and applications from the online application management system, Edvera and ensuring proper documentation is organized and backed up in the section’s digital file system.
- Preparing any necessary application documents for assigned schools for consideration of the Advisory Commission on Proprietary Schools.
- Communicating deadlines and requirements to schools as needed.
- Communicate with current licensees and potential applicants regarding ongoing Proprietary School Processes via various communication methods.
- Provide excellent customer service to current licensees, applicants, students, education partners, and the public regarding Louisiana Proprietary Schools and their governing statue and code.
- Perform necessary actions and investigations as part of the student complaint process.
- Assisting with the collection, organization, and dissemination of data related to Louisiana Proprietary Schools and their students
- Reviewing and approving applications for staff/instructor approval based on statutory requirements and the code.
- Assist with evaluating businesses to determine the need for a proprietary school license or an exemption from licensure based upon the current Proprietary School Law.
- Supporting additional licensure duties via the Board of Regents EDvera system.
- Assist with Initial Applicant and Compliance Training programs, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and regulatory alignment across licensed and exempt institutions.
