LP Gas Commission, our mission is to promulgate and enforce rules that will allow for the safest possible distribution, handling and usage of liquefied petroleum gas and anhydrous ammonia necessary for the protection, safety, and security of the public.
We’re looking for an
Executive Staff Officer to serve as the first point of contact at the agency, creating a welcoming environment for Dealers and visitors and providing administrative support that keeps our front office running smoothly
Minimum Qualifications
Six years of experience in administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of experience in administrative services; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in administrative services; OR
An advanced degree, or a Juris Doctorate, plus two years of experience in administrative services.
Experience Substitution:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

As An Executive Staff Officer, You'll Help Create a Positive First Impression For Every Person Who Walks Through Our Doors. In This Role, You Will:
- Greet Dealers, visitors, and staff with kindness and professionalism
- Check in Dealers, verify their information, and assist with completing any necessary paperwork
- Answer incoming calls, route messages, and provide general information about LP Gas services
- Coordinate and update appointments using our scheduling system to keep things running smoothly
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the front desk and lobby area to ensure a welcoming environment
- Support the LP Gas team with everyday office tasks like data entry, filing, mail distribution, and general administrative support
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position is a promotional opportunity for classified, permanent employees of DPS- Liquid Petroleum Gas (LP Gas) Section.
Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Location: This vacancy is located in East Baton Rouge Parish.
