What You Will Do
The Environmental Engineer focuses on developing solutions to environmental challenges related to engineering projects. This role involves assessing environmental impact, ensuring compliance with regulations, and implementing sustainable practices. Conducts studies, designs systems for waste management and pollution control, and collaborates with stakeholders to promote environmental stewardship while supporting project goals.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide technical knowledge and is accountable for setting technical work direction and implementing environmental programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulatory requirements and implementation of related programs integral to support the site and manufacturing operations.
- Maintain an understanding of plant operations, attend project reviews, and review management of changes for assigned manufacturing area to determine environmental impact on an independent basis.
- Ability to read, interpret, plan, and implement a new, major regulatory requirement.
- Ensure regulatory reports, permit application s, etc. are submitted in an accurate and timely fashion. Prepare permit applications in a way that provides maximum flexibility in plant operations.
- Completes accurate engineering calculations to support environmental emissions reporting and for permit applications. Reviews same information from supporting team members.
- Develops and delivers training for plant employees to comply with external and internal regulations.
- Capable of independently performing engineering design and calculation assignments.
- Applies deep technical or specialized knowledge involving advanced knowledge of a major field.
- Provides leadership on addressing non-compliance situations; works with agencies, corporate HSE, and legal to resolve.
- Audits site environmental programs as well as participating as an auditor during internal regional compliance audits and global management system audits.
- Support the analysis and resolution and minor operation interruptions and upsets related to environmental issues.
- Support and network with Corporate and Regional Environmental teams.
- Contributes significant technical improvements and efficiencies.
- Mentors other engineers in the department.
- Leads large, diverse teams.
- Ensures environmental reporting and compliance at the plant level, with limited support of manager and/or other team members. Identifies and delivers improvements and efficiencies at the department level. Leads engineers and/or multi-discipline teams (does not have direct reports).
Required Qualifications:
- Either: a B.S with 6 years of progressive engineering experience, OR an M.S with 4 years of progressive engineering experience.
- Computer proficiency in Windows passed programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong safety ethic.
- Strong trouble shooting skills.
- Good communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to influence a diverse workforce.
- Delegation, leadership, and influencing skills.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma Principles.
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Email, internet, etc).

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $90,400.00-$135,600.00 per year. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
