Family Nurse Practitioner
Skill and Qualifications:
- Ability to multitask: they should be able to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently.
- Prioritization: The ability to evaluate what must be done and rearranging the day according to importance.

- Leadership: be willing to step in and help where needed. Assisting nurses, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the ER physician and coordinate the care of admits from the ER
- Coordinate patient care to include: admit orders and medicine reconciliation.
- Round on each patient and address any changes to their care.
- Responsible for managing nursing care up to 2 overflow patients in the Medical Surgical and ICU units
Education/Experience:
- Is currently certified as a primary care nurse practitioner by an accepted certifying body
- Preferred: experience working with acutely ill patients. Working with patients who have been hospitalized due to an acute onset.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be able to function independently, have personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, personnel, and support agencies.
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the hospital.
- Provides for the continuity of patient care by communicating with all Providers involved in each patient’s care.
- Completes medial record documentation timely.
- Works cooperatively with Employer on cost effectiveness efforts, including utilization of resources and all other aspects of the delivery of patient care services.
- Cooperates with Administration and with other employees in a reasonable manner.
- Demonstrates ability to exercise independent judgment; adapts easily to changes in work assignment and environment and is willing to assume additional responsibilities.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, etc. that are necessary for the clinic.
- Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a cheerful disposition, as well as be willing to handle persons based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices
- Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter.
