Shreveport Aquarium is seeking a highly qualified Aquarist to join our Animal Husbandry team. This full-time position plays a vital role in the care, maintenance, and presentation of our marine and freshwater exhibits, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and guest experience.
What you’ll do:
- Provide daily care, feeding, and habitat maintenance for a diverse collection of aquatic animals.
- Dive into exhibits (SCUBA) for maintenance and animal care.
- Assist with water quality testing, quarantine, and veterinary treatments.
- Maintain and operate life support systems to keep our animals healthy.
- Deliver engaging public presentations and behind-the-scenes interactions.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aquarium Science, Marine Biology, Zoology, or related field.
- 2–3 years of professional public aquarium experience caring for marine and freshwater species (elasmobranch and reptile experience a plus).
- SCUBA certified (or ability to obtain).
- Strong knowledge of life support systems, water quality, and animal health.
