Big Brothers Big Sisters is entering an exciting season of regional growth and expansion — and we are hiring a Director of Marketing & Communications to help build the next chapter of our brand and impact. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role for a creative builder who believes marketing drives mission.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this position will shape and execute integrated marketing strategies that increase volunteer recruitment, strengthen donor engagement, elevate storytelling, and support long-term growth across both regions.
We are seeking someone who can think strategically and create tactically — leading campaigns from concept to execution while building the systems that support sustainable expansion.
What This Role Will Lead
• Recruitment marketing strategy
• Alumni and donor engagement campaigns
• Brand storytelling and creative direction
• Event and fundraising marketing support
• Digital strategy across web, email, and social
• Translation of national Big Brothers Big Sisters campaigns for local impact
This role supervises a shared Events & Marketing Coordinator and partners closely with our Development and Program teams.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for a growth-minded marketing professional who brings:
• Strong campaign leadership experience
• Excellent storytelling and writing skills
• Demonstrated Canva or graphic design proficiency
• Experience driving audience engagement and measurable results
• A collaborative, systems-building mindset
Nonprofit experience is welcome, but not required. We are most interested in candidates who understand how to move audiences to action in mission-driven environments.
Compensation & Structure
• Full-time, exempt position
• Salary range: $60,000 – $80,000
• Anticipated starting salary around $60,000–$65,000 depending on experience
• Based in Acadiana with frequent travel to New Orleans required
Hiring Process
We are committed to a thoughtful and transparent selection process designed to identify a strong long-term leader for this role. The anticipated start date for this position is May 1, 2026, or May 15, 2026, depending on candidate availability and transition needs. Our hiring process includes:
Step 1. Application
When filling out the application, you will be asked to include a resume, cover letter with prompts and design portfolio. Only applicants who can provide the following will be considered:
ResumeCover Letter In your cover letter, please briefly address the following topics: A marketing campaign you personally led from concept through execution. Your experience creating graphic design assets (specifically Canva or similar tools). How you would use marketing strategy, storytelling, and data to increase volunteer recruitment and strengthen fundraising efforts in a mentoring organization. Portfolio Link or Upload Applicants must provide a link to an online portfolio (preferred) or upload samples demonstrating creative marketing and design work. Portfolio materials may reflect experience in areas such as Brand Campaigns, Graphic Design (print and digital), Social Media Content, Email Marketing Campaigns, Multimedia Storytelling, etc.
Step 2. First-round Structured Interview
In-person interviews will begin the week of March 22nd, 2026.
Step 3. Practical Exercise (short campaign simulation)
Applicants will be asked to participate in a brief campaign-building exercise designed to simulate real-world responsibilities of the role. The purpose of this step is to better understand how you think strategically, organize ideas, communicate clearly, and align your approach with our mission. We are not looking for perfection — we are looking for clarity, creativity, and alignment.
