Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Coordinator in Clinical Trials Unit Administration.
The Administrative Coordinator provides essential administrative and clerical support to the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), working closely with CTU leadership, medical staff, and research physicians to ensure efficient operations within a dynamic clinical research environment. This role is responsible for coordinating medical staff committee functions, managing the credentialing process, and serving as a system administrator for research-related databases and tools. The coordinator also supports travel logistics, expense reporting, and scheduling, contributing to the overall success of clinical research activities and medical staff operations.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to CTU leadership and research physicians, including calendar management, correspondence, and document preparation.
- Coordinate medical staff committee functions, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and tracking follow-up actions.
- Manage the credentialing process for medical staff and research physicians, ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as system administrator for relevant databases and tools, maintaining accurate records and supporting data entry and reporting.
- Oversee logistics such as travel coordination, expense reporting, and publication of the monthly physician on-call schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 3 years of administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare, academic, or clinical research environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with physicians, researchers, and leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with database systems and scheduling tools.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting medical staff operations, including credentialing and committee coordination.
- Familiarity with clinical research processes and regulatory requirements.
- Prior use of research databases.
- Experience coordinating travel and managing expense reporting in a healthcare or academic setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital administrative procedures.
