Scope or Responsibilities: To provide musical accompaniment for all rehearsals. weekend, Holy Day, and Vigil liturgical celebrations of the Ft. Polk community. The contractor shall work as an Independent Contractor (1099) for Adams1and1 Consulting Services, LLC.

All music will be performed in accordance with the Catholic Church's guidelines De musica sacra et sacra Liturgia (Instructions on Sacred Music and Sacred Liturgy) and approved by the Catholic Chaplain or Deputy Wing Chaplain in his absence. The contractor is monitored by the Contracting Officer/COR in consultation with the Catholic Chaplain.
Responsibilities

3. All music will be performed in accordance with the Catholic Church's guidelines De musica sacra et sacra Liturgia (Instructions on Sacred Music and Sacred Liturgy) and approved by the Catholic Chaplain or Deputy Wing Chaplain in his absence. The contractor is monitored by the Contracting Officer/COR in consultation with the Catholic Chaplain.
Quantifications and Requirements for the Catholic Musician: The contractor:
4.1 It is preferred that the candidate has a college degree in music or has completed college-level music courses.
4.1.a They must be proficient in sight-reading music and be capable of playing a variety of liturgical and Catholic folk songs.
4.1.b They should possess knowledge and experience in Catholic musical traditions, including liturgical, traditional, and contemporary styles of worship and praise.
4.1.c Additionally, the candidate must be able to play and sight-read music in collaboration with other musicians, such as those playing guitar, drums, trumpet, and other instruments
4.2. Must have at least six months of experience in a Catholic parish setting as an accompanist.
4.3. Be proficient in sight-reading, voice, and must be proficient in playing organ, piano, and have experience with Catholic liturgical music.
4.4. Be proficient at the interpretation of vocal and instrumental scores to include both traditional and contemporary Catholic music.
4.5. Demonstrate knowledge of collaboration with a group of liturgical musicians, communicating effectively with singers.
4.6. Demonstrate ability to present appropriate liturgical music in keeping with the Sacred Liturgy.
4.7. Be knowledgeable of the Roman Catholic Mass, Liturgies, and the role of music in worship and the liturgical seasons.
4.8. Function as a team member in a pluralistic environment working with chaplains, Staff, contractors, and volunteers.
4.9. Possess the skills to synchronize music with choir and/or congregation.
4.10. Letters of recommendation from two Roman Catholic pastors or priests testifying to the candidate's performance and moral character are required.
5. General Responsibilities:
5.1. Consults with the Catholic Director to coordinate, plan, and participate in the performance of all music supporting weekend worship and Holy Day celebration for the JRTC and Fort Polk Catholic community.
5.2. Functions as First Cantor, and Accompanist leading the singing of the JRTC and Fort Polk community at all weekend and Holy Day liturgical celebrations.
5.3. Attend a minimum of two weekly rehearsals, with one rehearsal on Sunday morning and another on an evening during the week to accommodate students' schedules.
5.4. The Contractor will participate in the incorporation of songs and hymns into the music program when requested by the Catholic Chaplain or Auxiliary Priest and consult with the Catholic Chaplain or Auxiliary Priest for all questions concerning the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy.
5.6. Complies with all Federal, State, Local Laws, Air Force Instructions, and Chapel Operating Instructions that apply to this position, including funds requests supporting the Catholic music program.
5.7. If awarded the contract, the Contractor must apply for a background check to the Chapel according to Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI 1402.5). Criminal History & background Checks. The required background checks are the Installation Records Check, the State Criminal History Repository Check, and the FBI. The government will perform all required checks.
5.8. In coordination with the Catholic Parish Coordinator, ensures all volunteers working with youth below 18 years of age complete a background check as described in DoDI 1402.5.
5.9. Accountable for paying any Social Security payments, Federal or Local Income Taxes, and State Unemployment Insurance premiums for themselves, as well as any individual employed or subcontracted by them to provide services under this contract.
5.10. The Contractor will personally perform the services described above or coordinate performance by a substitute of equal or higher qualifications approved as suitable by the lead faith Chaplain. Submit the names and qualifications of proposed subcontractors to the Catholic Parish Coordinator at least 14 days before the proposed absence. Subcontractors must meet the requirements for the position as outlined in this requisition.
6. Specific Responsibilities: The Catholic Musician will:
6.1. Participate in a written liturgical plan by season (Advent/Christmas, Lent/Easter, and Ordinary time), including Holy Days and special celebrations.
6.2. Support a budget for the music program for the fiscal year.
6.3. Be aware of rehearsals four weeks in advance.
6.4. Perform with the choir, other musicians, and choral responses, anthems, and special music to enhance liturgical celebrations.
6.5. Perform with new choir members.
6.6. Maintain harmonious relationships with choir members and chapel staff.
6.7. Dress modestly and professionally appropriate for an office and/or worship environment
6.8 Participate in all responsibilities of the choir within the community in song at all liturgical celebrations.
6.9. Communicate weekly with the Catholic Director of Music to discuss musical selections for weekend worship and other liturgical celebrations.
6.10. Perform for special/emergency liturgies and services (funerals) upon request.
6.11. Ensure all facilities and storage areas are secure and clean according to established chapel facility safety and security procedures.
6.12. Operate within Christian Copyright License International (CCLI) guidelines and CCLI Terms of Agreement.
6.13. The Contractor will not reproduce any material in violation of current copyright laws.
6.14. The Contractor shall comply with the chapel facility regulations that apply to reserved rehearsals and performances as required.
6.15. All work will normally be performed at the JRTC and Fort Polk or one of its satellite facilities.
6.16. The Contractor shall comply with all support requirements with the Contract Officer or designated representative.
6.17. The Contractor will appropriately consult with the Catholic Music Director, Contract Officer/COR, or designated representative, align with an annual calendar of events that reflect appropriate funds, budget, and core religious education curriculum according to the information that is submitted as required by the local Chaplain Corps operating procedures.
7. Criminal History Background Checks: The Contractor shall:
7.1. Apply for a background check, Religious Affairs, according to Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI 1402.5). The government will perform all required criminal background checks. Contractors who have previously been awarded a background check must provide proof of the check or obtain a new one.
