Air Planning and Assessment Division as an Environmental Chemical Specialist Staff and become the state’s leading expert in air quality validation and reporting. Your work will directly protect public health, reduce pollution, and ensure compliance with the Clean Air Act by transforming complex data into actionable insights.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in an engineering field plus three years of experience in process design; OR
A master's degree in an engineering field or a chemical or physical science field plus two years of experience in process design; OR
A doctorate degree in an engineering field or a chemical or physical science field plus one year of experience in process design.

Job Duties:
Job Duties and Other Information
- Serve as the department’s expert on the EPA Air Quality System (AQS), preparing and submitting ambient air monitoring data, verifying sites, and ensuring compliance with federal reporting requirements
- Advise state leadership on environmental policy, data validation, and technical expertise related to the ambient air monitoring network
- Manage air analysis reporting controls, including ozone forecasting programs, AQI/OAP software, and participation in EPA’s AirNow forecasting and mapping efforts
- Collaborate in regional workgroups to address ozone formation and chemical reaction processes, and liaise with EPA Region 6 on ambient air data analysis and site negotiations
- Enhance data reporting by applying statistical principles and computer applications to produce charts, graphs, and reports that illustrate environmental conditions and regulatory impacts

Compensation: This position offers a Special Entrance Rate (SER) listed below. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job tittle and salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
