The incumbent assumes responsibility for the operations of the institution in the absence of the Corrections Warden 4. Incumbent will assume all responsibility of the Corrections Deputy Warden 4 over Operations in his/ her absence. The incumbent of this position will also supervise and participate in institutional responses to emergency situations such as escapes, searches, offender work stoppages, hostage negotiations, and other violent or nonviolent disorders. Incumbent maintains constant contact with RLCC and is on call twenty-four (24) hours a day in cases of emergency or unusual situations. The Deputy Warden of Programming will assume responsibility and participates in the response to return these situations to normal.
RLCC is the 3rd largest male facility within the state. This position will oversee employees and inmate populations for a unit within the facility.
Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the managerial level or above with direct-line supervisory responsibility over two or more subordinates:Five years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises plus one of the following:1. Six years of full-time experience in any field; or2. A bachelor's degree.ORA master's degree plus four years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises; ORA doctorate plus three years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.
Job Duties:
Plans, directs, implements, and coordinates the activities of unit heads and staff members.
Conducts staff meetings in order to clarify programs, objectives and tasks.
Incumbent will ensure that all requirements are met and that policies and procedures are maintained as mandated.
Reviews and acts upon reports, correspondence, disciplinary actions, etc.

Appointment Type: Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)
- The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted or may be required to accept a probational appointment.
