Human Resource Generalist (Full-Time) - The Emerge Center, Baton Rouge, LA

The Emerge Center is seeking a proactive, solutions-oriented HR Generalist to support the full employee lifecycle and serve as a trusted partner to leaders and staff. You'll balance people-first service with sound judgment, attention to detail, and strong knowledge of HR best practices and compliance.
Schedule: Mon-Thu 8:00-5:00; Fri 8:00-4:00.
What you'll do
Be the first point of contact for HR inquiries, delivering timely, high-quality support with discretion.
Administer onboarding and offboarding (new-hire paperwork, I-9/E-Verify, background checks, exits).
Support talent acquisition: post roles, screen applicants, coordinate interviews, and facilitate offers.
Administer benefits and leaves; guide staff through eligibility, enrollments, and qualifying events (FMLA, ADA, PWFA, etc.).
Assist with employee relations: document concerns, support or conduct investigations, and recommend corrective actions with HR leadership.
Support compensation and performance processes (job descriptions, pay change documentation, evaluations, coaching toolkits).
Maintain accurate HRIS and personnel files; prepare routine and ad-hoc HR metrics and reports.
Partner with Payroll/Finance to ensure accurate, timely payroll changes and audit readiness.
Coordinate and track training/compliance modules (harassment, professional boundaries, safety).
Contribute to HR projects and programs that strengthen culture and engagement.
What you'll bring
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, or Business Administration.
Minimum 2 years of professional HR experience (including multi-function exposure).
Working knowledge of HR laws/regulations and best practices (FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEO, PWFA).
Proficiency with HRIS and ATS; strong Microsoft 365/SharePoint/Google Workspace skills-especially Excel/Sheets.
Excellent communication, documentation, time-management, and confidentiality.
Preferred
SHRM-CP or PHR (or active progress toward certification).
1+ year in an HR Generalist role.
Familiarity with leave administration, benefits renewals, and basic compensation practices.
