Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Refinery Turnaround Scheduler to join our team. This role is critical in planning, coordinating, and executing refinery turnaround (shutdown) activities safely, efficiently, and within budget. The ideal candidate has strong scheduling expertise, refinery or petrochemical experience, and the ability to manage complex project timelines under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed turnaround schedules using industry-standard scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project)
- Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and contractors to define scope and sequencing of work
- Integrate all project activities into a master schedule, ensuring alignment with turnaround objectives
- Monitor schedule progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
- Facilitate planning and scheduling meetings with stakeholders
- Track critical path activities and provide regular status updates to leadership
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Support cost and resource loading for schedule optimization
- Conduct post-turnaround reviews to identify lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in turnaround planning/scheduling within refining, oil & gas, or petrochemical industries
- Proficiency in scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 (preferred) or Microsoft Project
- Strong understanding of turnaround processes, maintenance workflows, and refinery operations
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities during critical shutdown periods
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cost tracking and resource planning
- Familiarity with risk analysis and schedule optimization techniques
- Knowledge of safety management systems in industrial environments
- Certification in project management (PMP or equivalent) is an asset
