St. Martin’s Episcopal School is excited to recruit Summer Camp Counselors to join our Summer Camp team.
This is a fun, high-energy role for individuals who enjoy working with children, collaborating with a team, and making a meaningful impact during the summer.
Camp Dates & Commitment
- Camp dates: June 1 – July 24, 2026
- Minimum commitment: At least one month during the camp session
- Mandatory all-staff training: May 30, 2026, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
- Camp schedule: Monday – Friday
- Meals are provided to all staff at no cost
About The Role
Summer Camp Counselors work with children ages 5–12 and are responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and positive camp experience. First and foremost, counselors are responsible for the safety and well-being of all campers. Counselors are expected to serve as positive role models, bring enthusiasm to each day, and maintain open communication with camp leadership and fellow counselors.
You will report directly to the Summer Camp Director and work closely with Division Leaders, counselors, campers, parents/caregivers, and other St. Martin’s Episcopal School summer staff.
Key Responsibilities
Camper Supervision & Care
- Work with Group Leaders and fellow counselors to ensure campers are supervised at all times
- Support camper supervision during arrival, dismissal, lunchtime, and off-campus field trips
- Model positive behavior and leadership for campers and staff
- Identify and report camper concerns or disciplinary issues in a timely manner
- Assist with maintaining accurate daily attendance records
- Provide daily care for campers, including recognizing and responding to personal health needs
Program Participation & Activities
- Actively and enthusiastically participate in all camp activities
- Assist with specialist activities such as swimming, arts & crafts, sports, fitness, and outdoor play
- Help plan fun, safe, and age-appropriate activities
- Be prepared with backup activities for rainy days, schedule changes, and downtime
Health, Safety & Environment
- Maintain high standards of health and safety for campers and staff
- Take responsibility for following and enforcing safety policies at all times
- Ensure program areas are free from hazards and debris
- Report hazards or facility concerns to St. Martin’s staff immediately
Communication & Collaboration
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions
- Communicate openly with camp leadership and teammates
- Seek and respond to feedback from campers, families, and staff
- Perform other duties as needed to support the overall camp program
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- At least one year of experience working with children
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (Must be certified prior to the first day of camp)
